Miziba Infrastructure Ltd respects the privacy of every visitor and counterparty. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website or contact us, why we process it, and the rights you have over your data under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.
01Who we are
This Privacy Policy is issued by Miziba Infrastructure Ltd, a company incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Ghana, with its registered office in Accra, Ghana ("Miziba", "we", "us", "our"). For the purposes of the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012 and the GDPR, Miziba is the data controller in respect of personal data processed through this website and through institutional correspondence with us.
Our Data Protection contact for any privacy-related enquiry is privacy@miziba.com.
02What information we collect
We collect only the personal data we need to operate the website and respond to enquiries. Specifically:
- Information you provide directly — when you write to one of our published email addresses (general, partnerships, press, careers, privacy), the email metadata and the contents of your message. This typically includes your name, email address, organisation, role, and any information you choose to share.
- Information collected automatically — when you visit the website your browser sends information that is logged by our hosting provider for security and performance purposes. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, device characteristics, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, and the page you came from.
- Essential cookies and local storage — to remember whether you have acknowledged our cookie notice, we store a single key-value pair in your browser's local storage. We do not deploy advertising, analytics, profiling or cross-site tracking cookies.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 18. The website is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact privacy@miziba.com and we will delete it.
03How we use your information
We use personal data only for the purposes for which it was provided or collected:
- To respond to your enquiry and any subsequent correspondence.
- To evaluate institutional partnership opportunities you propose to us.
- To consider job applications and expressions of interest.
- To respond to media and press enquiries.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To comply with our legal, regulatory and contractual obligations under Ghanaian law.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.
04Lawful basis for processing
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following lawful bases under Article 6:
- Consent — when you write to us voluntarily, you provide clear consent that we may use your contact details to respond.
- Legitimate interest — for security logs, fraud prevention, and the operational integrity of the website. Our legitimate interest is balanced against your privacy rights and is not overridden by them.
- Legal obligation — where we are required by Ghanaian law or by binding regulatory obligation to retain or disclose certain records.
- Contract — where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contractual relationship (such as evaluating a partnership proposal).
Under the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012, our processing is on the basis of your consent or our legitimate interest, processed in accordance with the eight data protection principles set out in section 17 of that Act.
05Sharing your information
We disclose personal data only in limited circumstances:
- To service providers acting on our behalf (web hosting, email delivery, font delivery via Google Fonts) and bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Where required by Ghanaian law, court order, or lawful regulatory request.
- To advisors (legal, accounting, audit) bound by professional duties of confidentiality.
- To a successor entity in the event of a corporate reorganisation, merger, sale, or transfer of assets, on the same privacy terms.
We do not share your personal data with marketing partners or data brokers.
06International data transfers
The Miziba website uses Google Fonts, which is operated by Google LLC and may transfer technical request data outside Ghana. Our email infrastructure may be hosted with providers operating outside Ghana. Where we transfer personal data outside Ghana, we rely on the appropriate safeguards required under section 47 of the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012 and, where the GDPR applies, on the appropriate transfer mechanisms set out in Chapter V of the GDPR (including standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions where in force).
07Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law:
- Email correspondence — retained for the duration of the active enquiry and for up to twenty-four months thereafter, unless a longer retention is required for legal or regulatory purposes.
- Job applications — retained for up to twelve months following the close of the relevant role, unless you consent to a longer retention so we can consider you for future roles.
- Server logs — retained for up to ninety days for security and operational monitoring.
- Local storage cookie acknowledgement — retained on your device until you clear your browser storage.
At the end of the applicable retention period, we either delete the personal data or anonymise it irreversibly.
08Your rights
You have the following rights in respect of your personal data:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right of rectification — you may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right of erasure — you may request that we delete your personal data, subject to retention obligations.
- Right to restrict processing — you may ask us to limit how we use your data while a query is investigated.
- Right to data portability — where applicable, you may request that we transfer your data to another controller in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — you may object to processing based on our legitimate interest.
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint — with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana, or, where the GDPR applies, with the supervisory authority in your member state of habitual residence.
To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@miziba.com. We will respond within thirty days, in line with section 35 of the Ghana Data Protection Act and Article 12 of the GDPR.
09Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies and local storage strictly necessary for the operation of the site. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. For full details of our cookie practices, please see our Cookie Policy.
10Security
We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we process, including transport-layer encryption (HTTPS), restricted access to email systems, and confidentiality obligations on our service providers. No system can guarantee absolute security; if we identify a personal data breach affecting your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the Data Protection Commission of Ghana in line with our obligations under the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012, and the supervisory authority where the GDPR applies.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, our practices, or the services we offer. The version, effective date and material changes will be indicated at the top of this page. We encourage you to review the policy periodically. Where the changes are material we will, where reasonable to do so, notify counterparties with whom we are in active correspondence.
