01

Money & safety

Who actually holds my money?

Miziba does not hold client funds. Money is held in escrow by licensed banking and payment partners, structured under Ghana's Payment Systems & Services Act, 2019 (Act 987), supervised by the Bank of Ghana. Miziba operates the control layer that decides — against verified events — when funds may be released.

What stops someone releasing money before the work is done?

No role in any Miziba product can release its own funds. Money leaves escrow only against an independent, signed event — for construction, an approved inspection by a certified professional. The person doing the work cannot approve their own payment.

What if the inspector gets it wrong, or there's a dispute?

Inspectors are certified professionals accountable to their institutes, engaged by Miziba rather than by the party being verified. Every inspection and decision is written to an immutable audit record — actor, timestamp and evidence — giving a documented basis to resolve disputes rather than word against word.

What does it cost?

Fees depend on the product and are disclosed transparently before you commit — nothing on this site is a fee quote. For construction, charges relate to escrow, inspection and platform use; for trade finance, the waterfall pays the bank first and the trader last. Contact us for specifics on your case.

02

Trade, institutions & data

How is a bank protected in Miziba Trade?

Capital deploys only against a verified Loading Certificate — commodity received, weighed, graded, insured, loaded and already sold. The offtaker pays into one ring-fenced settlement account, and a fixed waterfall repays the bank's principal first, before any other party. The trader also posts first-loss equity ahead of the bank.

What data do you collect, and how is it protected?

We collect what's needed to verify identity and activity — KYC details and evidence of work. Personal data is processed under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), with lawful basis, minimisation and retention limits. See our Privacy Notice for the full picture and your rights.

Is Miziba regulated?

Miziba builds licensing-first: fund-holding sits with licensed partners under Act 987, and data under Act 843. Miziba itself operates the verification and settlement control layer. Nothing on this site is an offer of credit, insurance or a security. See Governance.

Which markets does Miziba serve today?

Ghana first — Trade is operating with an anchor aggregator and Build is in live pilot. We prove each primitive in one market before expanding. Capital is in a partnership phase with licensed institutions.

03

Building & verification

I'm in the diaspora — how do I know what's really happening on site?

You fund milestones into escrow, and money releases only when an independent inspector verifies the work on site. You see evidence — photos, drone video and reports — plus budget and timeline status remotely. The site is visible from anywhere, and nobody can release your money without an approved inspection.

Can I use my own contractor?

Yes. Bring your own contractor and we verify them, or engage a Miziba Verified member. Either way the work is checked by an independent professional and every payment is gated by an inspection.

Is Miziba a marketplace where I hire people?

No — it's a registry, not a marketplace. Members are verified on identity, licence, tax and insurance, and their reputation is earned from real escrow events, not reviews. Discovery is a by-product of verification, not the product.

What happens to all the records when the project ends?

They become the building's permanent digital passport — drawings, permits, contracts, certificates, inspections and payments in one auditable record. It's exactly what a future bank or buyer needs to trust the asset.
