Frequently-asked questions from journalists covering African agribusiness, structured commodity finance, and institutional capital flows in West Africa.
What is Miziba?
Miziba Infrastructure Ltd is the verification, escrow, and atomic settlement layer for institutional commodity finance in Northern Ghana. We do not lend, do not trade, and do not take title to commodity. Our role is to operate the institutional architecture that lets a bank deploy senior-secured working capital against rural commodity trade with the same auditability the bank applies to a corporate receivable. Founded in 2025 by Joel NtiAmoah Marfo. Headquartered in Accra, Ghana.
What is TradeAxis Secured Commodity Finance (TSCF)?
TSCF is Miziba's flagship programme — a structured commodity finance facility connecting independent commodity traders in Northern Ghana with institutional bank capital. Three variants: TSCF—D (domestic, GHS, 22–30 day tenor), TSCF—P (buyer pre-fund), and TSCF—X (export, USD or GHS, 37-day tenor with bank-consigned bills of lading). Bank principal is senior secured, first in a five-tier atomic settlement waterfall. Programme launched 4 May 2026.
Who is the anchor partner?
JNI AGRI Ltd is the anchor aggregator under the TSCF programme. It is a six-year-old commodity trading business operating across six regions of Northern Ghana, with a registered farmer base of 10,000+ smallholders across 150+ villages. FY2025 audited revenue: GHS 102.5 million across cashew, shea, sesame, sorghum, and soya. Default record: zero on all financing lines since 2019, bank-confirmable across all institutional relationships. JNI AGRI Ltd is a separately incorporated Ghanaian company with its own board, audit, and balance sheet.
Which banks is Miziba currently engaging?
Five-bank parallel engagement is underway with UBA Ghana, Fidelity Bank, FNB Ghana, Absa Ghana, and Development Bank Ghana. The engagement is parallel by design rather than sequential, to preserve negotiation leverage and timeline discipline. Concurrent DFI engagement is in preparation discussions with the African Guarantee Fund, GIRSAL, the Development Bank of Ghana, the African Development Bank, and Rabobank Foundation regarding capstone guarantee partnerships.
What does the catalytic equation reference?
Per US dollar of concessional guarantee capital deployed at Layer 7 of the protection cascade, the TSCF structure catalyses approximately $8 of commercial bank deployment, which channels approximately $28 of annual farmer payments at 3.5x cycle turnover. The equation is documented in detail in the DFI Impact Flier in the institutional reference library at miziba.com/documents.
